Basal Cavity

Ustulina Deusta seen here on a Common Beech: (Fagus sylvatica) this is a very destructive fungus, destroying cellulose in the cell walls. The brittle fracture associated with this fungus often occurs with no warning.

We have shown a very small number of tree problems that exist. Tree inspections should be carried out annually but you, the client/owner, can look in late summer at the base of the tree around the Root/Butt Stem. If fungal fruiting bodies are seen call an arborist don't wait until it's too late.
